I can’t tell you how many times I heard that while watching the celbrations of the Super Bowl.  My husband is an avid Steelers fan so of course he was beaming with pride.   I managed to get a quick shot of the winning touchdown but I sure hate taking pictures of the TV. lol

On another note…we’ve made it through a whole month of photos!!!!  I am getting better at carrying around the p-n-s, I rarely used it before.  I confess that there are very few photos with the slr.   I’m really liking the ease of pulling out the small camera anywhere and I even use the auto setting! lol

Day 5 and still no power…I work on things until I need electricity and then I stop….   We run the generator in the evenings for the TV and computer so the kids can relax before bed but mostly we use it for the bigger things.

Shawna’s blog inspired me to dig out one of my old Coke bottles.  About 15 years ago I was given a Coke machine that you pulled out the bottles from the holes.  The cost of the bottles was 25 cents.  Totally cool.  When we cleaned out the bottom of the machine where the motor was, there was this bottle in the very back…the only date I can find on it seems to be ‘74.    Very Cool!

I really loved Shawna’s post, she is so creative…I didn’t get anywhere near as creative because I’m in a Blah…mood, but I thought I’d dig it out.  (did I mention I have that song as a ringtone? lol)

Our mail hasn’t run in 2 days…I have no idea what’s up with that.  But we finally got mail today so now at least we have new movies to watch while we wait for the power to come back on. 

Netflix Night...

Still no power and the kids decided to start a game of Sorry.  As it got darker and darker, I sat watching them light candles to finish the game.  I grabbed the p-n-s (yep, I keep it pretty handy) and snapped away.  I did get a few that were in focus with the flash but I really liked this one the best.

Sorry In The Dark...

Still no power but it hasn’t been so bad.  I have a gas cook stove and we have wood heat so we are good.

My kids go out, get cold and wet, come back in, shed the clothes around the woodstove, warm up, then go back out.   My youngest has this old pair of boots that I hate.  They were given to him and are a little big and I would never let him wear them in public but he will not take them off when he is home…and he wore them out in the snow today for about 15 minutes.  He came in and set them by the stove and they have stayed there all day.  

Now I HATE cold weather.  I barely stick my head out the door when it is like this so I was NOT going outside again for my POTD.  So I thought I would shamelessly display the hated boots instead. lol  (One of these days I will have the heart to make them disappear, but not today).

Little Cowboys...

Well, our ice storm hit and we were doing ok until about 4pm.  That’s when the power went off and now my kids are driving me crazy!

They are calling for snow tonight to cover up all this ice (yippee) and the power company is estimating Thursday night at the very earliest for power (and I’m not holding my breath).   We have the generator but I feel bad using all that gas just to run our TV to keep my kids entertained and the computer to keep ME entertained.  I’m encouraging them to look for other alternatives….(I know…good luck with that). 

Here’s my wintery picture to add to everyone elses…I really love living in the South because I could NOT handle this for more than a couple of months of the year. lol

Icing on the cake...

The kids were dismissed early for freezing rain that is expected to last until early Wednesday.  We’re finally seeing some of that winter weather everyone else is showing….but the ice is not as pretty as the snow.

The trees aren’t covered yet for me to snap a photo of them (maybe tomorrow) so I snapped a pic of the warm hot chocolate we had to toast in the winter weather… (after making sure the cabinets were stocked and the generator has gas, lol).

Ice Storm Warning...

My husband was burning the leaves and dead tree limbs in the yard today and I kept looking out the window at his fire…but when it really caught my eye was after dark when it was so bright and whispy.   I didn’t use the slr, and now i’m thinking I should have, but I didn’t want to damage it if it got hot or something.

I really liked the fire photos at the beginning of the month so here is my addition…

This is the actual picture I took for Old Buildings In Winter day but couldn’t pull it off the card.  So I took 2 photos that day thinking I’d lost this one.  But today I realized I had saved it to the internal memory of the pns so all was not lost.

Every time my cheerleaders line up with their pom poms I want to take a picture…the problem is that they are normally on the floor and I can’t get a good shot of them….   So, I had them line up in the lobby with their pom poms and I shot the poms.

I’m killing two birds with one stone with today’s photo. 

My 5 year old turns six in 3 days and he received a  Wally card in the mail from Nana along with a $10 check….

He’s dying to spend it and has asked me all evening when we would take it to the bank…(I told him it would cost him $9 for me to take him to the bank, lol)

He wanted me to take a picture of him in the glasses that could be made from his card and I thought that would be an excellent idea.
